no longer the question

Not many years from now

All of us will be gone

Our last breath released

Into the atmosphere

The same air we all share

That everyone who ever lived took in

Filled with their hopes and dreams

Now dust blowing in the wind

The smoke from burning fossil fuels

That is the legacy of our time

Compounded by all the other impacts

Dumped into the environment

With so much left unsaid

To state the obvious

What future generations will inherit

No longer the question

It is hard to make the fundamental change

That the situation demands

Even as the climate disaster accelerates

Wreaking havoc across every ecosystem

But the established order may not last

Liable to collapse as events cascade

Until the entire system breaks down

Throwing everything into question
