The man in Portland who opened fire
Killing one unarmed woman and wounding others
Stopped uttering his hateful misogynistic words
When dropped by someone who returned fire
Someone who reacted to stop him shooting more
But don't expect that person to be defended
Like the vigilante kid acquitted in Kenosha
By those who claimed self defense for him
Because the killer in Portland is a white supremacist
In an unprovoked attack on anti-racist protestors
The one who took him out is not called a hero
And the killer is not under arrest until days later
The Portland police say it's complicated
Because they are protecting one of their own kind
Withholding information and spreading disinformation
Looking to charge the one who put an end to the killing
But first they have to find that person
And apparently no one is telling the cops who it is
Turned off by police brutality against peaceful protests
Distrusting the armed forces of repression
In Portland and Kenosha in common with Charlottesville
White people protesting racism have been killed in the street
Meant to terrify allies of people of color into fearful silence
But we are many and there are more every day
