in the trial aftermath

It feels like these are revenge killings 

An atrocity unleashed in the trial aftermath 

The ongoing daily slaughter of random people of color 

But actually nothing has changed on patrol

A killer cop finally got convicted

And the police like predators are still on the prowl

Who brutalize their victims with sadistic blows

Then tell lies to cover their cold blooded crimes 

This is the response we get 

To attempts to reform the police

A continuation of attacks on us

Meant to intimidate and repress opposition 

There’s nothing new about these assaults

For them it is just more business as usual

What’s different is the video evidence

Capturing and exposing their thuggery

If there's a law they don't agree with 

They refuse to obey and enforce it

So don’t think the change can be legislated 

We have to get rid of them completely 

The thin blue line protecting wealth and privilege 

Ruling over us through deadly violence 

That is fundamental  to what the police are 

Why they must all be disarmed and disbanded 

Without the police to enforce inequality 

The whole system collapses 

Like a modern day Bastille jail break 

That has been a long time coming
