Picture a large capacity backpack
With a detachable day pack zippered on
Filled with necessities and hoisted up
On a young woman's shoulders
About to depart on a group trip
Headed to Tanzania Maasai Land and Zanzibar
Bringing along a solar suitcase setups
To provide light at night in their clinics
That was eleven years ago this spring
When I made a video of my daughter
Explaining the plan for the setups
To help women in labor in the dark
My way of capturing a memory
Recorded in the spur of the moment
Delighted she went along with my camera intrusion
Accommodating this proud parent
And so began the travels of that backpack
Lugged on multiple other trips around the world
Carried along to five continents and seventeen countries
Accumulating considerable wear and tear
Purchased with a lifetime guarantee
Something she remembers that I do not
Replaced now with a new improved version
But kept on as a container of memories
