Enjoying our companionship
Aware that everything is constantly changing
Remembering how we met
Twelve years ago we were both working
Living our separate lives as older adults
Sufficient in ourselves but ready for more
Open to beginning a new relationship
Now we look back at how young we were
Two people lucky to find each other
Making a pretty much perfect pair together
Happy to share our days doing what we do
Our years as a couple so precious to us
Sharing our quiet conversation or just being
Going for walks in the beauty of nature
Reading learning discussing discoveries
It's a wonderful life as retired persons
As long as we can do what we like
For now until our bodies tell us we can't
Appreciating each active day together
Being conscious we exist in the universe
Breathing among the billions of humans on this earth
Commingled with so many amazing life forms
Delighted to experience life together
