A lot can happen in a year 

And this was one of those years 

To press pause and consider 

Where we are at now

Birthdays are good for that 

Especially as the years go by

Each of us with our own calendar 

Setting our make a wish day

As for me personally

Nothing much has changed 

Happily being on repeat 

Good news at my age 

Not so for you  

Every year has been different 

Exploring the possibilities 

Opening doors 

Making good choices 

Things are coming together 

Even in the midst of uncertainty 

And I am confident in you 

I take satisfaction seeing you 

Capable smart creative 

Determined to live as your best self 

Making me proud of who you are
