take this job

Some people have had it with their job

Fed up with the intolerable conditions of employment

Imposed on them working through the pandemic

Ready to leave to look for something better

Many out of work have no job to go back to

Forced to try to find new employment

When there may be no market for their skills

In an economy that has shifted significantly

All these people hoping for a dream job

Meaningful work with good pay and being treated well

Though few are lucky to get even two out of three

And too many jobs don't provide even one

Only if you are young and dare to take the risk

Unafraid you might end up broke living in the street

The scary plight that coerces most people

To put up with whatever pays the bills

When winning the lottery is completely improbable

What then can individual people do

To escape losing our lives to one long grind

As long as the system remains in place

Oh how I hate the capitalist system

That weighs like a nightmare on the brain of the living

That trapped all the dead generations before us

That is stealing the future of the planet
