Something is different in a good way
Between you and me these days
Though I can't point to anything
That has definitely changed
Something subtle is making me smile
Just being around you
Not that I wasn't happy in the first place
That we are together
Perhaps there has been a slight shift
In your tone of voice
Or your stance when talking to me
Or the way you look at me
Perhaps I’m unaware of myself
Having changed imperceptibly
And I am showing you greater affection
Reflected back at me
In any case what matters
Is that it is happening
Our love is growing even deeper
And I think it's age related
Our approaching summer birthdays
Marking milestones this year
Make for a heightened awareness
A shared appreciation for what we have
Knowing that as we get older
Not everything necessarily declines
